General Surgical Services
I provide management of a range of general surgical conditions, and support services such as screening for bowel cancer or second opinion. Surgical services are available for both adolescents and adults. If you have any of the conditions listed here and wish to be advised on the most appropriate treatment please contact us.
Endocrine Procedures
Endocrine surgery focuses in the treatment of pathological endocrine glands in the body such as the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. Endocrine glands secrete hormones, chemical messengers that pass directly into the blood stream.
A minimally invasive approach can now be used in the treatment of primary hyperparathyroidism via a 2cm incision in the neck, and laparoscopic approach is routinely used in the surgical treatment of adrenal diseases.

Endoscopic Procedures
Endoscopy is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure used to evaluate the interior surfaces (mucosa) of an organ (stomach, colon, rectum) by inserting a small tube (scope) through a natural body opening. Through the scope, one is able to see lesions and other conditions, it enables taking biopsies and retrieval of foreign objects.
The upper and lower gastrointestinal tracts can be assessed using this technique. A gastroscopy enables the surgeon to assess the stomach and small bowel, whereas a colonoscopy will evaluate the large bowel (colon and rectum) as well as the distal part of the small bowel. These procedures are relatively painless and performed under sedation.

Open Surgery
Open surgery is a surgical procedure that cannot be performed using a laparoscopic approach. This can be due to expected difficulty of the operation (invasive cancer), for safety (dense adhesions from previous surgery making laparoscopic access hazardous), if the laparoscopic approach will bring minimal benefit to the patient (i.e hernia repair in elderly patient), or due to limiting factors (medical conditions, such as chronic airway limitation).
