My name is Dr Chris Berney, I am a general surgeon, specialising in advanced laparoscopic procedures. I did my training in Switzerland before coming to Australia over 10 years ago.

My preference for laparoscopic procedures is based on seeing my patients returning to near normal activities within days. Laparoscopic work is minimally invasive, there are less complications and recovery time is quicker.

I am very involved with new medical developments thus my patients benefit from this in my practice whenever possible.

As well as advanced laparoscopic surgery, I perform gastric banding surgery, endocrine surgery (thyroid gland, parathyroid gland) and endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopies and colonoscopies.

My aim is to deliver the highest quality service and to provide a thorough analysis of individual surgical needs. I will find the most appropriate and least invasive approach that provides the best outcomes for my patients.

I have appointments at the Prince of Wales Private, Sydney Private and Bankstown Hospitals. I am also a Senior Lecturer with the University of NSW.
